Ads should be encased in a border.
If border less, an ad must contain the advertiser's name
to signify that it is an ad banner, not content. (Blending
is not allowed.)
Advertisements cannot solicit or collect,
or appear to solicit or collect, any personally identifiable
information from
The
Hosting Guide's users.
Advertisements cannot mimic news headlines
in design, tone, 3rd person sentence structure, or topic.
After clicking on any ad unit, users
must be able to return to
The
Hosting Guide by clicking on the browser's "Back"
button. Any destination URL's that result in the "trap
door" effect (e.g., the user can not return to
The
Hosting Guide by clicking the browser's "Back"
button), are not permitted.
Within standard banner, skyscraper
and big ad units ad animation of any form can run for
a maximum of 30 seconds without being re-initiated by
the user.
Free-form overlay ads (DHTML) must
include a prominently visible close button and run a maximum
of 10 seconds.
For all ad types and creative, only
sound that is user-initiated will be accepted. All creative
must include a prominently visible on/off switch for sound.
Mouse-over interaction with an ad
within a page can only provoke ad interaction within the
current open browser window and cannot link a user to
a new Web site.
The following
list describes some of the kinds of advertising that we
will not accept:
- Ads that
contain fraudulent, deceptive or misleading statements
or illustrations. Attacks of a personal nature.

Ads that are overly
competitive or that refer abusively to the goods or services
of others.

Ads that do not comply
with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Indecent, vulgar, suggestive
or other ads that, in our opinion, may be offensive to
good taste.
