In DNS server you must need to designate the IP address and then configure Apache server to recognize the different hostnames. When clients requesting for domain name the request sent to HTTP using your web server.
IP based Virtual Hosting
IP based web hosting technique used for virtual web hosting service. IP based virtual hosting require IP address to recognize the correct virtual host to server. For IP based hosting you need to have separate IP address for each site hosted on a single computer.
